Independance weekend cook off!

We're trying to keep the fun going here at ICHPOA. We had a great time yesterday with the

Olympics and kids’ fun day, even in the triple-digit heat!

The next event is this coming weekend. We will have a Kids’ Fishing Derby, Barbecue Cook-Off,

and BYO Fireworks on the 1st of July. First up will be the Barbecue Cook-Off. We will have

three judges for the Cook-Off. The judging criteria will be appearance, aroma, tenderness, and

taste! The judging will be at 4 pm at the pavilion. We will give a 5-minute buffer on the turn-in

time. Please let us know if you plan to be in on the Cook-Off so we can plan according to the

number of participants.

Next up will be the Fishing Derby!!! Kids, bring your favorite fishing poles and lures/ live baits,

and let's see what you can catch! We will have prizes for The Most Fish, The Longest Fish, and

The Shortest Fish. This will take place at Lake Pocahontas on the dam. We do suggest life

jackets for safety reasons. This will take place from 5 pm - 7 pm. If you have umbrellas for

shade, I would suggest bringing them as well. And lastly will be the BYO Fireworks! Preparation

for this event will start at 8 pm. It will be in the center of the campground field. Bring your

fireworks, and let's all enjoy them together! This WILL BE TENTATIVE, depending on FIRE

DANGER! Fingers crossed, we get some rain and can enjoy some fireworks to end the night!!!

We will have two different donation containers at these events. One will be for a coin-operated

fish feeder, and one will be for the licensing fee to have a movie night outside with a projector.
